Start a New Subscription for a Returning Customer 💳
Steps to Start a New Subscription for a Returning Customer:
- Access Customer Profile:
- Navigate to the customer’s profile in HubSpot.
- Scroll to the bottom left to find the custom property “Stripe Customer Profile”.
- Triple-click the link and drag it to the browser to open the Stripe customer profile.
- If no link is available, search for the customer by name or email in Stripe.
- Update Payment Method:
- Ensure the payment method is updated and set as the default.
- If not, update the payment method to avoid processing issues.
- Check for Outstanding Invoices:
- Verify there are no outstanding invoices marked as void or draft.
- If any exist, investigate and reconcile any overdue amounts.
- Create New Subscription:
- Navigate to the “Subscriptions” section in Stripe.
- Click the plus icon to create a new subscription.
- Select the correct product (e.g., “Grow Plan”) from the dropdown.
- Ensure you choose the most recent subscription type and pricing.
- If discussed with the customer, modify the pricing (e.g., from $399 to $299).
- Select the number of free trial days (typically zero).
- Process Initial Payment:
- If applicable, charge a separate initial payment for the setup (e.g., $1000 for the first month).
- Modify the amount if a discount applies.
- Confirm Subscription:
- Select “Create Subscription” and confirm the details as needed.
