Steps to Start a New Subscription for a Returning Customer:

  1. Access Customer Profile:
    • Navigate to the customer’s profile in HubSpot.
    • Scroll to the bottom left to find the custom property “Stripe Customer Profile”.
    • Triple-click the link and drag it to the browser to open the Stripe customer profile.
    • If no link is available, search for the customer by name or email in Stripe.
  2. Update Payment Method:
    • Ensure the payment method is updated and set as the default.
    • If not, update the payment method to avoid processing issues.
  3. Check for Outstanding Invoices:
    • Verify there are no outstanding invoices marked as void or draft.
    • If any exist, investigate and reconcile any overdue amounts.
  4. Create New Subscription:
    • Navigate to the “Subscriptions” section in Stripe.
    • Click the plus icon to create a new subscription.
    • Select the correct product (e.g., “Grow Plan”) from the dropdown.
    • Ensure you choose the most recent subscription type and pricing.
    • If discussed with the customer, modify the pricing (e.g., from $399 to $299).
    • Select the number of free trial days (typically zero).
  5. Process Initial Payment:
    • If applicable, charge a separate initial payment for the setup (e.g., $1000 for the first month).
    • Modify the amount if a discount applies.
  6. Confirm Subscription:
    • Select “Create Subscription” and confirm the details as needed.
